Calendar Guidelines

What is the purpose of the Wild Rivers Connect Events Calendar?

  • A resource for members of Del Norte and Curry counties to share what we’re doing.
  • A means for sharing your events with community members, potential volunteers, and visitors to the basin.
  • A planning tool for you to make sure your upcoming event doesn’t overlap with other community events.

Who is meant to use the Calendar?

  • Visitors looking for local events and things to do
  • Organizations, schools, businesses and other groups reaching out to the community
  • Members of the Del Norte and Curry counties
  • Volunteers and would-be-volunteers

The Wild Rivers Connect Team can help you:

  • With questions about how to view, enter and edit information
  • Transfer ownership of events from one user to another
    • Example: Pam created events for the Brookings Community Garden Team. Pam moved to the state of Washington a year later, but the events are still under her name, in her account. The Garden Team creates a new account for their new outreach coordinator Jim. He contacts the WRC team and after some discussion, they transfer Pam’s events to Jim.

Calendar Guidelines

  • Do not post inappropriate content such as slander, cursing, or any imagery not suitable to a general audience.
  • No garage/yard sales, or promotional sales events, unless they are part of a fundraising initiative or greater community effort.
  • No job advertising.
  • No personal events such as family reunions
  • No closed meetings. The calendar is meant to be used to advertise events that are open to the community, not meetings meant to be attended by the same set-in-stone council group.
    • Example of good usage: The Brookings Community Garden Team is hosting a planning luncheon on August 12th. RSVP at…
    • Example of misuse: The Brookings Community Garden Team has monthly, private team meetings on the 2nd of every month. Minutes can be found at…
  • Please do not post the same event (same day and time) more than once. Recurring events (weekly, monthly, yearly, first Wednesday of every month, etc) are allowed, however.
    • Example : There are two events, both taking place on Jan 16th from 5:00 to 6:00 PM. Both are posted by the same organization (or two different users from the same organization) and have the same title, place, and general description.

Directory Guidelines

What is the purpose of the Wild Rivers Connect Directory?

  • A tool for community members, non-profits and businesses to post and update information about their groups
  • A resource for members of the Del Norte and Curry county communities to connect and work together
  • A means for visitors and community members to  find information and resources

Who is meant to use the Directory?

  • Visitors and community members looking for information
  • Non-profits, Government agencies, businesses, churches, and small teams who want to let people know what they do and what they have to offer

The WRC Team can help you:

  • With questions on how to view, enter and edit information
  • Transfer ownership of listings from one user to another
    • Example: Pam created the listing for the Brookings Community Garden Team. Pam moved to the state of Washington a year later, but the listing is still under her name, in her account. Since she left, the team’s primary meeting location and contact info has changed – the listing is now outdated. The Garden Team creates a new account for their new outreach coordinator Jim. He contacts the WRC team and after some discussion, they transfer Pam’s listings to Jim.

Directory Guidelines

  • Do not post inappropriate content such as slander, cursing, or any imagery not suitable to a general audience.
  • Include job and volunteer recruitment information alongside other information about your organization. Do not create a listing specifically about open jobs and volunteer opportunities.
    • Example of good usage: The Brookings Community Garden Team posts a listing about their team. They include their goals, history, affiliates, and info on how to volunteer/apply for a paid position.
    • Example of misuse: The Brookings Community Garden team posts a listing called “Open Position Wanted: Outreach Coordinator.” They include job requirements and a link to the application.”
  • Please do not post the same listing more than once. If you cannot access a listing that represents your organization or business, contact us.
